World Education Connection provides students with an opportunity to practice the 21st century skills of creativity, collaboration, communication, and critical thinking, while connecting with and learning from individuals worldwide. Students use critical thinking and creativity as they communicate and collaborate to raise funds that will serve to provide micro loans to entrepreneurs globally. As educators seek to improve student engagement and make learning relevant, it is important to provide authentic experiences with tangible outcomes that allow students to eagerly apply their learning.
This kind of active learning is far superior to the more traditional use of hypothetical situations, because as students learn and connect with others around the world, they become mindful of the realities others face and this sheds light on the abundance the students may enjoy. There is no greater learning for each student than the realization that he or she can have an impact on others and the world at large through connecting with and assisting individuals who find themselves in less fortunate circumstances. In turn, there is no greater satisfaction for an educator to know that he or she has influenced students to believe and to know that their actions can change the world for the better.
